2008 - 2010: The Barn

2008: Initial construction

We bought our first RV in 2007, it was a 1994 Dodge van and it sat outside all winter. We planned to upgrade the rig to a newer one and leaving it out in the weather in the winter was not what we wanted. I designed a barn to store our next RV, which we were sure was going to be on a Mercedes  Sprinter chassis.

We planned to build it on a monolithic cement pad and had the site prepped.

Ed and Jean Allen came over to help put up the walls.

The pad was poured in the spring of 2008 and we started framing in September of 2008.

Summer 2008

The framing was going well but winter was coming.

Thanksgiving 2008

By Thanksgiving it was taking shape.

The hope was to get the plywood on the roof before snow.

Pulling plywood up onto the roof, this was 06Dec2008.

13Dec2008 work stopped!

13Dec2008 - work stoppage. On this day, I came off the roof, gravity works every time. I was lucky, only broken ribs, a loose tooth cap and a bump on the head.

Things had to go on hold until spring.
8 Fractured Ribs...Oops

Em snow blowing

The project went on hold for the winter. Emily took care of snow clearing while I healed.
