2000: Stairs, Doors and Trim

I spent much of the winter of  99/2000 figuring out how to build stairs.  I am no carpenter and did lean on my brother Tom a bit, but the stairs came out about as good as I could hope.

Again, all my material came from Eric Ashline, and it was some fine wood.

The stairs were all stick built, 3 stringers, 5/4" treads, 3/4" risers, glued and screwed.

I used a 70# sand bag instead of June.

Railings

There are over 750 screws in these stairs, they don't squeak.

To control expansion, I put poly on both sides of the stairs. On the back of the stairs I used blocking which is glued and screwed.

Finished - June did the poly work.

The never ending task of Trim continued...but by the end of 2000, the house was done for the most part, I started to focus on building a garage.
