2015 - 2018: Furnace Replacement, New Gas Line, Flood, In Floor Heating

 August 2015 - Furnace Replacement

When I installed the oil furnace in 1996 I exhausted it using a power vent. The power vent failed on several instances and I had been nursing it along with replacement parts. In addition, we did not enjoy the mess and smell associated with fuel oil, so I had been considering changing to a gas (propane) furnace.  

In August of 2015 Lakeside Heating, Alex Bosarge, installed a new furnace.

We installed a Viessmann propane high efficiency condensing furnace.

September 2015 - New Gas Line

Heating with propane required a larger propane storage tank. I placed a 500 gallon tank over near the garage such that it could service both the house and the garage, which also has a propane furnace.

I dug the trench for the gas line, a bit over 150 ft, with my new John Deere 1025R TLB, it worked great. 

The tank is on the right, it feeds both the barn and the house. 

Internet cable in the same ditch to get internet into my barn. 

2018 - January, Flood

Sledding in the DAKs

Jan 13-14th we went on a snowmobile trip in the Adirondacks and had a great weekend. 

We returned home around 7PM on Sunday the 14th to find that the icemaker supply line on our refrigerator had failed and flooded our house. 

Trying to dry out hardwood floors

Our insurance company hired a water mitigation company to no avail. All the hardwood floors on the first floor and much of our belongings in the basement were damaged beyond repair. 

We moved into the rental house next door while our floors and repairs were made. 

2018 - March-April,  In Floor Heating

Since all the floors on the first floor had to be replaced, we decided to install in floor heating on the first floor. This required the use of engineered hardwood which we purchased from Woodline in Williston. 

I did the engineering analysis and layout of the system and hired Paul Salerno and sons to do the heat install.

Completed System

Overall the system integrated well with the Viessmann and works well.
